Application Process

  1. Click here to create your online account, then apply for the program (Choose 「2026 Spring Reconnaissance Japan Program (exchange)」)

    <aside> ❓ You can check your application number on the top right corner once you start the application. In case you have any inquiries, title your email with the application number(e.g. R2026S-0000) and send it to <[email protected].> ※Our staff will contact all applicants by November 21st, so we are unable to respond to inquiries regarding progress checks or application results until then. Rest assured that we will not decline applications without prior notification for correction requests.

  2. Prepare and submit the required documents for the application

    <aside> 🔥 In the past years, there were many students’ applications which were cancelled due to their late submission of the following documents. Please make sure to prepare the documents at least 3 weeks before the deadline. ・Passport ・Certificate of Guarantor's annual income (written in English) ・Medical Forms&Immunization Form

    Starting from application for 2026 Spring semester, we no longer require the submission of Immunization Record. **~~Immunization Record~~**

    However, we strongly recommend students receiving the MR vaccine before entering Japan.

  3. Finish payment of the Registration Fee.

    Students, including those from our partner schools, have to pay the Registration Fee (≠Student Service Fee) i.e. 30,000yen. Payment can be made once the application is started. ※If the payment has not been finished, CoA (Certificate of Admission) will NOT be issued. ※Fees once paid are not returnable/refundable even before the cancellation deadline.

  4. After everything is submitted, check your application status to make sure that your application is completed.

  5. If your application is successful, you will receive the admission letter (Certificate of Admission) from JFOU. ※Regardless of whether the application documents have been completed, our staff will contact you by November 21st, so we are unable to respond to inquiries regarding progress checks or application results until then. Rest assured that we will not decline applications without prior notification for correction requests.

  6. Finish payment of the Student Service Fee (and Tuition Fee if applicable).

    1. Student Service Fee

      Apart from the Registration Fee as mentioned above, students, including those from our partner schools, also have to pay the Student Service Fee (≠Registration Fee) i.e. 30,000yen. Payment can be made after the COA (step 5 below) is issued, and students will receive notification regarding this matter. If the payment has not been finished, CoE (Certificate of Eligibility for Status of Residence, the document needed for VISA application) will NOT be issued. ※Fees once paid are not returnable/refundable after the cancellation deadline (check here for the date).

    b. Tuition Fee

    Tuition Fee is fully waived or partially waived for students from our partner schools. Typically, fee-paying students are required to pay the full tuition.

  7. Check here for the upcoming schedules for dormitory application and online placement test. (If the calendar does not show up after clicking, scroll down on this page and look for “Fact Sheet”→“Academic Calendar”)

  8. CoE (Certificate of Eligibility) will be sent to you by email so that you can apply for a student visa through your Japanese embassy or consulate. You will also receive a link to a page where you can check the important dates and tasks before arriving in Japan.

  9. Upload your flight plans on this form four weeks before departure.

    *You should buy a flight ticket only AFTER knowing your CoE has been mailed to you (Click here to see the reasons) ******Late arrival is NOT acceptable: students MUST arrive on (or before) 1st September. There will be a pick-up service provided that day and the details are to be announced.
